The sound of the world drops away, and Remus is extending both of his hands. On the top of each palm is a hearing aid. The other man’s mouth moves for a few more words, but Remus isn’t sure what he’s saying—he’s never been all that great at lipreading. When his pale-colored eyes stumble over his outstretched hands, his face grows flushed. Finally, mercifully, he shuts up.

A new fav!! I love the POV so much - the POV of remus as deaf and autistic is fascinating and also relatable!

Mary is the shit[The rest of his shift, although much like any other shift before the interaction, is exceptionally cold and sad.
He thinks of that now-shattered image of the pretty girl and her soft, capable signing. In her place is that tattooed man, hardly competent with communicating with his own son.][He’s doubtful she knows any sign, but she’ll at least be kind, he thinks. Harry walks sheepishly over to her, and Remus chooses not to watch, fearful he will see some of himself in the interaction]
[To be honest, he’d always heard of people being afraid of the doctor and thought it to be completely silly and very stupid.
Watching Sirius in full-blown panic is no exception—Remus thinks it’s rather completely silly and very stupid. It doesn’t stop the tiny empathetic person inside of him from reaching out, grasping Sirius’s uninjured hand, pulling it from the white-knuckled grip he’s got on his other arm.][Remus also somehow got roped into, and had resulted in him worrying himself sick over it, staying up late researching on his phone, digging through which games they already had for the PlayStation, and exhausting his Aunt, whom he hadn't reached out to in years, to ask her what kids were into these days via email.
[And the 80's era film strip of his parents, the feelings accompanying it, and the persistent nag of a thought that says at least he hadn't won that gruesome lottery twice, spur Remus to text his father.

[Sirius rolls his hips, not just once, but twice. Remus becomes pliable in between his fingers, moldable into any and all shapes imaginable (as long as it is Sirius who asks for it).][Because Sirius may want Remus, but it can't possibly be in the same way that Remus wants him in return.
Because Remus is a hurt creature just like him.Sirius, evidently, doesn't feel it's worth it to try for his own escape.]
