It’s a stupid fantasy, but at least it made me feel better. If I think about it too much, the fact they’re not even listening just makes it worse. Even this, the last thing I can do to stay sane, is meaningless to them.”
With a snap, Paul shut the book. “It’s meaningless to them,” he said. “But not to you.”
