Summary
After the final battle of season 4, the party believes Eddie to be dead, he isn’t. Him and his Uncle are offered a chance of a new life out of Hawkins. But he can't talk to his friends, they have to believe he’s still dead. With what looks like no life in Hawkins the Munsons move and the party continues on grieving their friend. In 1990 Steve Harrington is a depressed 23 year old who needs to get out of Hawkins before it kills him. When he hears of a job in Wyoming looking for hard workers good with their hands he has no reason not to pack up his things and get out. What he doesn’t expect it the man that has haunted his dreams long before the spring of 86 to be sitting on top a horse when he gets there.

The beginning of a new season brings not one but two surprises for Lord Steven Harrington, the Ton’s most notorious rake.
First, there's a new gossip pamphlet written by someone known as Lady Upside Down who threatens to turn the Ton on its head, though no one is quite sure exactly what that means.
Second, and more importantly, is the arrival of Lord Edward Munson. Having someone new to pursue is rare for Steve, and when he sets his sights on Eddie, he knows this will be no ordinary conquest.
But, as with most things in the Ton, all is not as it seems. Eddie has secrets that drive his actions in ways that even Steve could never fathom, secrets that must come to light if the pair are to find out if love can truly bloom between them. And Lady Upside Down’s missives begin to do as she threatens, pushing for change whether the Ton likes it or not.
Meanwhile, Steve keeps perhaps the biggest secret of all.
As Steve and Eddie orbit one another, a darkness that has been growing for decades begins to rise, one that might just swallow all of London whole if they can’t find a way to stop it.

After months of sleeping at Eddie's headstone on and off, Steve is wounded while fighting the mind flayer's Demogorgon spawn with the kids. As he goes to Eddie's grave to wait for his death, He is met with the shock of a lifetime.
(TW- mentions of: Steve was probably being harassed physically, emotionally, and sexually by both Billy/Jason (more by Jason, I don't think Billy would have touched him, he actually seems like more of a follower than a leader. He seemed to be the one always searching for validation, especially from adults. In my writing, He never touches Steve like that, but he is physically aggressive as a sort of outlet.) after they found out that he was sleeping with Eddie while on the basketball team, and that's why he stopped playing in season 2. I know people like Jason, but I think he's an insidious, abusive douchebag that they did not explore as a character because he was padded by being good-looking. Chrissy deserved a better boyfriend. Diving into Billy Hargrove, I think he was incredibly traumatized, and also a bad person who did bad things. He was bad, but I think he was a more complex character than Jason. I believe he was abusive in the same way he was abused, and was probably closeted. -
