Summary
The Gaang, Zuko, and Iroh have finally made it across the arid desert and to the great walled city of Ba Sing Se.
However, within the walls of the Earth Kingdom's largest city, things are not as idylic as they would appear, and they face challenges that they never considered.
In addition to secret police, fire nation drills, and worst of all, politics, they will run into friends and foes both old and new, including some faces that they never wanted to see again.
In the midst of all this, they will try to contact the King of the city, and hopefully find Appa.
Hopefully without adding to already tragic backstories (not likely).Series

OR: After Zhao’s failed siege, Zuko and Iroh are captured. A few weeks later, Ozai receives a ransom from the Northern Water Tribe signed in Zuko’s blood. Unfortunately for the Firelord, Zuko’s safety is all Azula cares about.
OR: Unfortunately for Sokka, that means the Gaang has not one, but two unstable, broken fire siblings to deal with. Y’know. Once they break Zuko out of prison. Because this is not a situation that calls for torture (probably. HE'S still on the fence about it, screw Aang and Katara and their stupid morals and how much he agrees with them)

”Dad’s marrying you off to some water tribe peasant.”
Zuko’s head jerks up to see Azula on his doorstep, leaning against the doorframe while inspecting her nails in an obvious attempt to come off as unbothered. Or maybe she genuinely doesn’t care. Zuko can rarely tell.
He puts down his book and sits up on his bed, giving his sister his full attention, knowing very well that she won’t leave until she’s done taunting him.
”What do you mean?” he says, not really registering the words that have come out of Azula’s mouth until now. Azula is always taunting him about something. Usually it’s inconsequential, her dangling something over his head because she can, because she’s the favorite, because she’s perfect and Zuko’s not.
”I heard him talk about it with one of his advisors,” she says. ”Apparently emissary Liang is there negotiating the terms as we speak.”
”You’re lying,” he says, narrowing his good eye at her.

Summary
After his Agni Kai, Zuko flees the Fire Nation without Iroh or his crew. He finds himself stranded, alone, and injured in the Earth Kingdom when taken in and raised as a healer and farmer by an Earth Kingdom couple. He finds new ways to use his bending and to influence in the changing of the war with new understanding of himself, his bending, and the war. As someone with new perspectives and influence he is able to provide a greater understanding of being a teacher, warrior, and friend when meeting the gaang.
orWhere Zuko gets to recover before using anger to protect himself when he is adopted by a nice Earth Kingdom family
