Summary
Eddie, Steve and Dustin are on their way to a D&D convention, it’s obviously just Eddie and Dustin wanting to go, they offer Steve to come with which he refuses at first but he eventually agrees to be their driver. Since the convention’s out of town they can’t drive there and back in one day so they leave the day before and spend the night in a hotel near the convention site to be on location early in the morning. It turns out they never make it to the convention and the hotel’s haunted.

Summary
Steve is a giver. He loves to give, to provide, to fulfill— he loves to be needed by people, because he’s been taught that that’s the only way people will love him. That’s the only way people will value him.
But Dustin, who has never once considered that he only loves Steve because he provides— wants to change this. He has to change this.

Summary
Erica’s thumbs are sticky with dried blood. She’s twelve years old and she’s been sitting next to the corpse of her brother’s girlfriend for three days.
She’d grabbed Lucas’ hand and yanked it as hard as she could, only for him to slip out of her grasp, mouth parted in a silent scream as a vine wrapped around his neck. It hissed and smoked and the rift disappeared with him, leaving only sparkling ashes in its wake.
For three days, she’s been alone. No one else had made it out of any of the gates. The one person who could help her figure this out, Dustin, is stuck in there. With Lucas.
With Eddie and Max dead, Lucas is dragged into the Upside Down before the gates close. It’s a fight to survive the next six months and Dustin’s theories and plans continually fail to open a gate—until there’s hope from someone outside. He just prays their way out doesn’t take another life.
