Now the surviving heirs and cavaliers of the former Empire are sent to the First House to attend an Edenite summer camp as a test of their loyalties. With the cavaliers having been separated from their necromancers for years and several parties suffering from a mysterious amnesia, how will the former adepts and swordspeople of the Nine Houses react to their new circumstances? Will they acquiesce to the Edenites’ wishes, or will they rebel against their captors?

Yu Ziyuan watches over her son. She knows this is it. Their allies will not hear about this attack soon enough to help, and there isn’t a single surviving Jiang disciple here to help their Sect Heir get away. Wei Wuxian may have had a drop more of filial piety than she thought him capable of (which was none at all), but that child was selfish before he was even arrogant. He would never risk his own lowly life for the sake of one of his betters.
Except that Wei Wuxian does come. With a Wen traitor in his tail, he comes back and gets her son. He even—he even fights to get their bodies back, Jiang Fengmian’s, and Yu Ziyuan’s as well. It’s too risky, insane even, and both conscious boys come to agree that they cannot manage it.
But the little beast came back, and he tried… he tried to save her, too.
Yu Ziyuan watches, and is torn.
