Summary
It's hardly a surprise to find Sherlock's brother sitting in the kitchen. If Greg's feeling trapped by the jazzy Christmas songs and the hubbub of multiple conversations, he can't imagine Mycroft Holmes would enjoy it at all.

It's a ridiculous thought, Ice knows it, but Maverick is doing this wrong. He's been in the forces long enough to know there's always an established SOP, a way things get done, and Mav's ignoring it. A fuck between pilots should be quick and discreet, preferably far away from base. Not… this.

Bookmarker's Notes
He breaks them. One word at a time, one question after another: never contradicting, never arguing, always just asking and what if, tiny step after tiny step. Ramirez is their weeper; Rodney leaves Kleenex on the bookshelves behind the seat she always claims, but he does her the courtesy of never calling her attention to it. Carroll has an answer for everything, rolling off his tongue like honey, and Rodney pushes and pushes until just past Easter, when halfway through one dismal Wednesday Carroll answers yes to and *what if it were your mother instead, would you still--* and then puts his head between his knees and breathes like he's trying not to throw up while Rodney rests a hand on the nape of his neck. Dunnellen and Ashiwat start holding hands underneath the table when they think Rodney isn't looking, holding onto each other like they each need the lifeline. Slowly, piece by piece, he watches them learn that "never" is just another word for "until".
This section has stayed with me. Years after I first read this story, this perfect heartbreaking moment stayed with me. It's brutal and honest and also such a wonderful idea that Rodeny would try to teach his students the terrible things that they might face.

Summary
Steve jerks awake, sitting up so quickly that Robin almost topples over and staring wildly around the room. When his gaze lands on Eddie, he blanches visibly.
“Oh, shit,” he mutters. “Come on, no. Come on. Not again.”
“Harrington?” Eddie asks slowly. He does not love the way that Steve is staring at him right now. He really doesn’t. Steve looks like he’s staring at a ghost, a bloodied monster, like Eddie is something that should not exist in the light of day. “You good, dude?”

Stranger things, s4, timeloop. Steve's caught in a timeloop but this is Eddie's POV - it works so well and had me hooked the whole way through.

Summary
Maverick doesn’t regret it when he takes the hit, when the last thing he hears before he ejects is Rooster screaming his name.
But then he wakes. Not to a vast, white snowfield behind enemy lines—but to an inverted cockpit of an F-14.
And to Goose, alive and well in the seat behind him.

Or; the time-travel fix-it in which TG:M Maverick wakes up at the start of TG (1986).

Bookmarker's Notes
This is amazingly good. Honestly, I never realised what I needed to read was a timetravel Maverick/Iceman story showing all the ways Maverick changed as he grew older, but man, I desperately needed this. I love a time travel travel fix it, but what I loved so much was Maverick's maturity. Like you could really feel how this is a 50-something suddenly back in time. Someone who had learned the painful way that a trophy or first place wasn't important in the grand scheme of things.
This story made me absolutely believe that Mav had spent years in love with Ice and unwilling to risk losing him too. I loved that the story so easily blended the first movie to the second, to the friendship and fondness we saw between them and made me believe it had always meant more to Mav. And Goose and Carole are the best - absolutely the best - friends anyone could ask for.
