Betsy is a little more sick in this version than we got on screen. And Carla and Lisa's breakup lasts longer than half a day lol. They struggle with navigating Betsy's injury as well as the storm of events leading up, and it takes a big hit to their new relationship. Can they find their way back to what was once looking to be something very special?

November 22nd 2024. Carla Connor walked into her flat, uttered the iconic line "Don't Get Dressed" and blew Lisa Swain's mind (and ours). But what if her gamble had backfired? What if...Lisa had turned her down?
Starting that infamous day, and continuing during the subsequent festive period, 'Hurt' tells the story from Carla's POV. How does she feel about being turned down? Can they go back to being friends, or has too much happened? What's been said cannot be unsaid and some things are difficult to get past.
This is a slow burn and a bit more angsty than most of my previous stories but, rest assured, there'll be some fluff coming!

Summary

Standing in the way of salvation is Betsy's mother, Lisa, a former detective who retired on medical grounds and is not impressed by Carla's appearance in their lives.
Slow burn.
Carla's life is mostly canon up until her psychosis, but the Swains I have moulded to fit into this AU timeline
