Summary
Mike is waiting for Will in the basement, a look of suspicious, nervous excitement on his face. He cleared the table and laid out upon it are two card games.
"Now, I know you’ll resist," Mike blurts out, stepping toward him. "But I think this will be good. For both of us! For when we... you know,” Mike trails off, “When we get partners.”
Will scoffs, stepping closer to inspect the titles.
Spill or Sip and Truth, Dare, or Strip.
Or: Mike suggests a spicy card game to help Will loosen up before college. It works a little too well, and suddenly they’re gambling with unresolved feelings, and clothes, that were meant to stay in place.

Summary
In the summer of 1989, after a beer fueled night at the quarry, Mike impulsively kissed Will Byers.
Overwhelmed by grief, old heartbreak, and feelings he couldn’t face, Mike fled Hawkins for Chicago to chase a career in journalism. He thought he could outrun the town, the upside down’s shadow, and that kiss. But some things can’t be outrun.
Three years later, in summer 1992, 21 year old Mike returns home for the break, tired of hiding. On his first night back, Lucas, Max & Dustin drag him to the local bar, where he later reunites with Will, back from New York for the summer. Old friends banter easily, but between Mike and Will the air thickens with everything unsaid. What will the summer bring between them?
OR
Mike’s back in Hawkins and can’t keep his eyes (and eventually his hands) off Will. Mike is confused, jealous, and hopelessly fawning, pushing down any thoughts about his sexuality before they can settle. Will, trying to stay loyal to his boyfriend, finds Mike’s mixed signals impossible to ignore, leading to heated nights, confessions, and plenty of angst.

Summary
“I don't know. I've never felt the instinct to… uh…”
“Jerk off,” Mike suggests.
Will winces. “Between Vecna, everything that happened to me in Upside Down... I suppose things like this affect every aspect of your life. So I've never found it particularly… er, appealing.”
Mike finds it almost natural to smile at that choice of words. To make Will feel less out of place, he shifts even closer. His knee grazes Will's chair. Will flinches.
“But you tried,” Mike deduces, slowly.
Will insists on keeping his gaze down. “Yeah.”
“‘Cause you…” Mike follows the contours of Will's jaw with his eyes; if he can’t see it on his face, he hopes to catch a reaction from the rest of his body. “Because you want to.”Or: Will is having a tough time coping with college anxiety which results in constantly snapping at Mike. Mike offers a best-friendly helping hand.

Summary
"You're... you're such a jerk," the older Will panted, his eyes fluttering shut, his hands coming up to grip the older Mike’s forearms, though he wasn't pushing him away. If anything, he was pulling him closer.
The older Mike leaned down, his lips brushing against the shell of the older Will’s ear. "Am I?" he whispered, the audio catching the low, gravelly vibration of his voice.
Or:
In the summer of 1989, a video store appears overnight in Hawkins, one no one remembers.
Inside, Mike and Will find a tape labeled with their names, dated years in the future.
When they watch it, they realize it isn’t a movie, it’s them.
But the signal is fragile, only steadying when they are touching; to keep the future from dissolving into static, they must maintain constant physical contact.Bookmarked by snoods
