Summary
During the final stretch of Ryland Grace and his companion from another planet's journey to Erid, the duo stumble across an abandoned vessel drifting through deep space. Inside, they find an entity that is still alive but monstrously altered, almost beyond human recognition, under unknown circumstances. Ryland becomes fixated on studying his new test subject and discovers they have far more in common than he ever would've predicted.

His bones and flesh and blood reformed in the same moment they were erased from existence - he amused himself later by imagining he might have left a Looney Toons-esque outline silhouetted in the sky; Wiley Coyote vs. Roadrunner.
