Don’t eat that. That’s not for eating. Theo. Theo. Don’t - -” Buck lets out a loaded, patient breath. “Ideally as fast as you can.”

Summary
Everything from then on is a blur. He remembers agreeing to pick Theo up tomorrow morning, rushing to grab a notepad and pen to jot down a list of necessities to buy, and saying goodbye to the frazzled-but-grateful social worker on the phone. He’s halfway out the door, one sneaker fully on, the other barely laced up, before it hits him.
He’s taking Theo in.
Buck is going to be his biological son’s… guardian? He has to pass a couple of checks, the social worker had explained on the phone, but she’d also quickly reassured him that she’d looked into his file - and since when did he have a file - and she was sure that he would pass with flying colours.
It sounds a lot more normal than it is.
Or, Buck gets a call that changes everything. Eddie helps him weather the storm.

“I met a lady on the call the other day, the one I pulled out of the other unit… she said she was psychic and then started talking about granting wishes. It all sounded so ridiculous, but I-I think she did something to me. I know I sound crazy, but I think I have to do whatever people tell me to.”
Buck jerks back, stands to his full height, and Eddie sees the last twenty-four hours playing through his eyes in perfect clarity, without one second of doubt. Buck believes him, instantly, wholly, without question, and Eddie suffocates the sob in his throat.
“Oh, Eddie, you’re…” Buck says, “wait, is that why you were giving that guy your number?”
“That’s your question?” He gasps through a laugh, and it’s wet and dangerous.
“Yes,” Buck says, without an ounce of remorse.

Physically, Buck was ready to accept a baby into his home. Mentally? He wasn’t sure. He knew he wanted this, wanted her. He had always wanted a baby, a family, but now it was actually happening, the legal documents signed, sealed, delivered, he worried that he wasn’t up to it.
Panic raised as a lump in his throat, but as if he could read his thoughts, Eddie placed a hand on his leg. “This is good Buck, it's great!” it was such a simple sentence, but Eddie’s sureness was enough to dampen the panic, their eyes met and Buck grinned at him in response.
“You think so?” he couldn’t help but ask.
“You found her, isn’t that like a sign from the universe?” Eddie knocked their knees together.
“You don’t believe in signs from the universe.” Buck shot back.
“You do,” Eddie said softly, his gaze unwavering, “and I believe in you.”
